I am an expert on Eastern and Southern Africa. Recently, I spent a month in East Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa to visit new lodges, camps and hotels which added to my existing knowledge base. I experience many unique events/excursions to learn about conservation, anti-poaching, interacting and learning about wildlife, and visiting authentic tribes - so I can recommend "real" life experiences as we plan your upcoming safari to this incredibly exciting part of our world! I establish and maintain strong local contacts to ensure that you have the best tour operators, guides/drivers/transportation, and special amenities to make your Safari the best it can be.

I've explored and experienced this magnificent African continent nine times arranging and conducting safaris throughout East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania and the Massai Mara, Uganda and Rwanda) and South Africa (Botswana and the Okavango Delta) as well as crafting highly-personalized trips to experience the history and culture of Johannesburg and the naturally-beautiful city of Cape Town. Now, I am eager to share this exhilarating, diverse and life-changing destination with you! I want you, too, to experience and feel the magic and natural beauty of wide-open savannahs, rushing rivers, magnificent wildlife (such as looking directly into the eyes of a Mountain Gorilla,) and learning - first-hand - the culture and lifestyle of the local and very gracious African people. Let's get together and talk about what you want to see, do and experience.

Visits to Germany and South Africa are always the highlights of the year. My love and enthusiasm for these destinations is limitless. As a thoughtful listener, I will carefully note your preferences and propose offerings best suited to your personal interests. My knowledge is broad and my attention to details is high - from art museums and concert halls to safari lodges and village visits; from Michelin-starred restaurants and regional cuisine to high-design hopping and procuring ethnic crafts. Upcoming travel plans include touring the less-visited northern regions of Germany, and in South Africa - exploring the famed Garden Route and the wonderful safari lodges of the Eastern Cape. I look forward to sharing my personal connection to each country with you and to collaborating to create your unique itinerary.

Africa is my passion! Although I have visited all seven continents, when asked my favorite, it's always Africa. I love creating real "trips-of-a-lifetime" experiences with the goal that you will so enjoy your first African Adventure, you'll return home ready to start planning your next African Adventure! My most recent South African adventures were with two groups that I escorted. We started in Cape Town and enjoyed extensive sightseeing. Next, we spent three glorious nights at a wine estate in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. From there, we flew directly to Krueger National Park and enjoyed spectacular game drives in both the Sabi Sand and Timbavati areas of the Park.

Working with local South African travel advisors for two years while I was employed with Conservation Corporation Africa, helped to educate, train and prepared me to become a South Africa expert when I returned to the U.S. One of my primary responsibilities was to call on all travel advisors - throughout South Africa - to educate these professionals on our many special Conservation projects, as well as to promote our various lodges. To become knowledgeable, I traveled from one end of the country to the other exploring and learning about not only popular tourist venues but off-the-beaten-path destinations that visitors would want to see to ensure an authentic South African experience.

What started as a fascination for viewing animals in the wild became my profession. During the past 15 years, I've experienced and hosted numerous safaris in exotic locations throughout the world - ranging from multiple excursions in eight African countries, to the Arctic, Antarctica, India, Galapagos and Australia. In addition to holding multiple certifications, I continue my education keeping abreast of the animal viewing options as they evolve, the cultural/political situations in each destination, as well as accommodations and services updates to ensure that I provide you with the best safari experience possible.

Over the past 30 years, I have visited many destinations throughout the world. Yet my real passion is Africa. In fact, I've been told that "my face just lights up" when I start talking about Africa! During the last two+ decades, I've traveled here 25 times to explore Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Activities I've enjoyed, and that I can arrange for you, include walking and hiking excursions, canoeing, kayaking, cycling, snorkeling and diving. Your accommodation options can range from simple dome tents to super luxurious 5-star lodges. I have sampled every variety of cuisine from local bush food and delightful local wines to fine dining in award-winning restaurants. I have traveled the rails, hopped about in tiny planes, driven and been driven thousands of miles and cruised rivers and lakes. I have met, learned from, and been humbled by representatives of the Masaai, Samburu, Herero, Himba, Zulu, and Shona cultures, as well as from other cultures.

African Safaris are my passion - truly a passion. I believe that every travel experience and opportunity should be as unique as the traveler engaging in it. Working together, we will discuss thoroughly your goals, objectives, interests, itinerary, budget - in other words, a thorough consultation so that I will know and understand how to specifically customize your itinerary -geared to your interests and travel styles - to maximize your upcoming safari experience. Once we have agreed on your itinerary, I will plan added touches with my supplier partners to "wow" and delight you throughout your trip! As everyone needs to eat, one of the special amenities I enjoy providing is to make sure you have at least one special dining experience in each available area that is specific to your dining preferences - information that I gleaned from our consultation.
