My deep love and appreciation for the United Kingdom – and England specifically – developed over many years of consuming copious amounts of British entertainment, teaching high school students British literature and experiencing the destination myself many times and for numerous visits. I have thoroughly toured and experienced London, as well as the many other delightful and different areas, including Dover, the Cotswolds, the Peak District, Northumberland, and East Anglia.
During the past fifteen years, I’ve experienced this destination for as long as three months, when I took a summer study program at Oxford a few years ago, to short-term site tours or visits with friends in their 20s and 30s, to visits with relatives in their 60s and 70s. I’ve certainly learned how different a travel experience is to arrange and implement – based on the age group with whom you’re traveling and/or visiting. It’s also important for us to discuss traveling outside of London for sightseeing.
We’ll discuss how to pace and prioritize what you want to see and do. For example, when visiting country houses, museums, or palaces, the middle of the day is the “window” during which you can visit most of the historic/cultural sites. And for sure, take time to get outside the capital and enjoy the magnificent beauty and charm of the English countryside! When we talk, I’ll share with you my best recommendation for afternoon tea. Also, when traveling north – Hadrian’s wall and Alnwick castle are “must sees.” This is just the beginning of all there is to see, do, explore, and enjoy in England and the UK. I look forward to our talking soon, and I look forward to planning your upcoming visit!
